St. Xavier's Alumni Association of India, Patna is one of the
oldest School Alumni Association of India, which boasts of over
5,000 members, some of them very famous names. The SXAA has some of
the finest citizens of the country as members. From doctors to
teachers, bureaucrats, senior police officers, bankers,
engineers, lawyers, government servants, entrepreneurs and
other innovative fields. Xavier's has produced persons of eminence
in all the fields.
SXAA was formed by Fr. Joseph P.
Wroblewski to bring together the talents of Alumni of St. Xavier's
School, to channelize it towards service to community, to make "Men
for others", to create role - models for society and to give
through leadership. SXAA is somewhat of a community centre where
Xaverians can dream together and translate those dreams into
reality.
We at SXAA strive perpetually in all we do to
make the name and record of our alma mater brighter than it is and
always have in mind the noble sentiment of our alma mater's motto
hold out to us "for God and Country".

Anjani Kumar, an alumnus of 1981 batch, assumed charge as the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner here on Monday. Anjani took over from V V Srinivasa Rao, who was till now the Commissioner (full additional charge), in the Commissioner's Office at Basheerbagh in the presence of senior officials.
New Principal: Fr. Christu Savairajan SJ is the new
Principal of St. Xavier's High School, Patna.

Principal: A farewell ceremony was organized at School on 28
March 2018 to bid adieu to Fr Jacob OA SJ.
23rd December 2017 became a nostalgic
evening for many
as alumni from all over the globe came together to relive their
memories with their families.
We, Xaverians, are proud of your achievements. Above all, the
Grammy award for the best world music album went to you in
2017. Your association with Yo Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble
for 'Sing Me Home' album won you the Grammy award. You had
already been nominated for the award, twice earlier in 2005 and
2009. Your performances with percussion instruments on the
world stage has won you international accolades. Your
appearance and performance at the UNO General Assembly, opening
ceremony of the Special Olympics, Shanghai and the World
Economic Forum in Switzerland in the presence of such high
dignitaries as Her Majesty, the Queen of England, Queen of
Thailand, the Pope and various other Heads of countries has
been particularly appreciated.
Carnegie Hall, Lincoln
Centre, Hollywood Bowl and Royal Albert Hall apart from other
world-famous institutions have been graced by your
performances. You have composed several pieces combining both
percussion and melody and your latest composition 'King Ashoka"
premiered at Santa Barbara by Yo Yo Ma and the SRE. Tarang was
chosen as the theme music for 'Blind Sight', the documentary on
the first Everest climb by six blind climbers. 'Srishti' a
percussion rich performance has been appreciated worldwide.
You have been a founder of Harmony and Universality through
Music (HUM), which promotes opportunities and scholarships for
specially-abled children with potential, in any genre of art to
empower them to lead self reliant lives.
As a
disciple of the world famous Pandit Kishan Maharaj, you were
trained intensively, starting at the young age of seven years
in the centuries old Indian tradition of Guru Shishya
Parampara. After passing out of St Xaviers in 1985, you
obtained a gold medal at Benares Hindu University in English
literature. As a member of the faculty at Harvard Education
School Summer Institute and have been artist in residence at
Dartmouth Branders, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Clara, College
of the Holy Cross, Juilliard School of Music, Berklee School of
Music, UC British Columbia and many other institutions.
The international press has acknowledged the high quality of
your performances. Journals such as New York Times, Washington
Post, The Independent, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times Have
had praise for your contributions.

Your Journey of eminence began when you joined St. Xavier's
School in 1966. Your long and distinguished career of 38 years
began in The National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla followed
by a year at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun leading to a
commission in the Rajputana Rifles on 7th June 1980. You have
the rare experience of commanding troops both in the counter
insurgency and counter terrorist operations in the North East
and in the Kashmir Valley, Especially during the Kargil
Conflict. You have diverse experience in commanding troops in
high altitude areas of Sikkim, strike formations in deserts and
in the North East.
We are proud to record that you
have been Ambassador of the Indian Army in various United
Nations Missions. As Military observer in the UN Peace Keeping
Force in Mozambique and in Rwanda and having had the
distinction of being the Chief of staff of the United Nations
force in Burundi. Several distinguished awards have dotted your
significant career. For your gallantry in Mozambique you've
been awarded with the Sena Medal. You've been the recipient of
the Vishisht Seva Medal, AtiVishisht Seva Medal and Uttam Yudh
Seva Medal. Additionally, you've been twice conferred with the
Chief of staff Army commendation. During your long and
illustrious Military Career, you have been enthusiastic about
your academic pursuits. You have obtained an M Sc. Degree from
Madras University and two M. Phil degrees, one each from Devi
Ahilya Vishvavidyalaya, Indore and Madras University. Your
pursuit of knowledge resulted in a post graduate diploma in
Information Technology from C-DAC Pune and a Post Graduate
diploma in human rights, International Humanitarian and Refugee
Laws from Indian Academy of International Law and Diplomacy,
New Delhi.
You are now General Officer Commanding
Eastern Command at Fort William in Kolkata. In recognition of
your distinguished service to the nation for God & Country, St.

secretary for International Organizations and Environmental
Diplomacy in the Government of India, you engaged in and

Dhaka, Cairo, Bonn and Brasilia, you have successfully
accomplished the challenging responsibility of heading
Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran divisions of the Ministry of External

various administrative capacities in Jehanabad, Hazaribagh,

Joining the World Bank in 2005, you have
worked globally on Policy Reform & Development, Finance in
China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Turkey,

Today,
you are Practice Manager, Urban and Disaster Risk Management,
East-Asia and Pacific within the social, urban, rural and
resilience global practice for the World Bank leading
operations and strategy and advisory services.
You
have been the lead author of Safer Homes, Stronger Communities,
a hand-book for reconstructing after disasters - 2010 and,
Cities & Floodings: a guide to integrated urban flood risk
management - 2012 and, contributed to chapters in several other
publications. You have also been the recipient of World Bank
Vice-President's Award in 2012, 13, 14 and 15.
In

Entrepreneurs drive the economy of the nation. You graduated
from St. Xaviers in 1974 and after your college education in
Jamshedpur, you joined PNB, and server in various managerial
capacities. In 1999, you started Aditya Vision and in 2002 the
2st super Market in Bihar - 9 to 9 was born.
Understanding and expanding lifestyle preferences, you engaged
in providing Patna with food and beverages choices by
introducing Yo-China in 2006. As business expanded, you took
the challenging decision to become a full-time entrepreneur.
Today, there are 28- Aditya Vision Showrooms, 6- 9-9 Super
Markets, 3 -Yo-China restaurants, 2 take-away outlets, 11
salons and spas and 4 banquet halls across the state. In
October 2016 Aditya Consumer Marketing Limited launched its 1st
IPO which was oversubscribed and was listed in the BSE. Today,
you have contributed to the development of Bihar by employing
over 1000 personnel. In recognition for your entrepreneurship
excellence and your humane business acumen, St. Xaviers Alumni
Association is proud to present you with the Significant

The Saint Xavier's Alumni Association places on record your brilliant career and selfless service to the Alumni Association and wishes you many, many laurels in the years to come. Having graduated from St. Xavier's in 1986, Intermediate from DPS, R K Puram, Bachelors from Delhi University, you have done brilliantly everywhere and left your impressions at each of these institutions. You were the College Topper in Political Science and pursued your Masters in Political Science, M.Phil. and Ph.D. from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University. You have numerous research publications to your credit in various journals of National and International repute and successfully guided many M.Phil. and Ph.D. students in the areas of International Relations and National Security. You have also visited Library of Congress, Washington DC for the research work. In December 1996, you were appointed as Lecturer in the Department of Political Science Ghatsila College under Ranchi University and later transferred to Magadh University in November, 2000. Later, your merit carried you to the post of Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, B S College, Danapur. You were seen to be an accomplished all-rounder. You are the Secretary of College Debating Society and Athletic Society. In school, you were a great favourite of all the teachers who taught you and your class mates too thought highly of you. You were the Captain of the School Cricket Team and were actively involved in organizing cultural events, debates & other extra co-curricular activities in College and at University level.
But it is not for your services to the society that we remember you at the Alumni Association of ours. It is for the services that you have so diligently rendered to our Association by your hard work and in such a selfless spirit.
Dr. Ashutosh, we at St. Xavier's note with great pride, your tremendous efforts to keep in contact with the Xaverians. Your passion for interacting with people and your contributions during organization of Jesuit Alumni Association of India National Congress 2011 at St. Xavier's, Patna has been widely appreciated. SXAA Delhi Chapter organized a Lunch reunion in the final cricket match-Xavier's vs Michael's at IIT, Delhi Cricket ground on Sunday 18th March 2018. Xavier's XI won by 9 wkts . Batting first Mikes made 213 for 6 in 28 overs - Kr Kashyap of 1999 batch made 72 runs while other contributors were Tushar '2001 batch 32 runs n Jayant Kisto of 2010 batch 30 runs other Mikes batsmen like Pranay Prakas '2000 batch n captain Mrigendra Singh '99 batch made 21 & 19 respectively.... Bowling from Xavier's - Rahul Pandey '98 batch took 2 wkts giving 36 runs in 5 overs and Sharat Sinha captain 1wkt for 32 runs in 5 overs n Abhishek of 2004 batch the fastest bowler (135 kmph ) from either side who took 1 wkt (in his deadly Yorker) giving just 15 runs in 3 overs n Anirwan Singh of 1998 batch 1 wkt for 30 runs in 4 overs... Xavier's XI reply to modest target of 214 in 28 overs (less than 8 runs per overs) made it only 25 overs with 3 overs still to go with loosing only one wkt n Prashant of 2005 batch made 99 not in 76 balls with 9 fours n 2 sixes while Sharat Sinha opening the inning remained unbeaten on 63 off 59 balls with 5 boundaries (only wkt fell was of Anirwan Singh at his individual score of 15 a good catch in covers by Jyoti Prakas of 2000 batch of Mike's off the bowling of Sumit Prakas of 2001 batch of Mike's)........ Man of the match -Prashant, Best Batsman -kr Kashyap, best bowler -Rahul Pandey, best fielder-Vibhuti Singh 1982 batch of Xavier's as wkt keeper (1 stumping n 2 run-outs) and all round performance award to Sharat Sinha... This was 14th final of Fr Cleary-Fr Cox tournament being played since 2004-05 n Xavier's have won 9 times while Mikes only 4 times n one match of last year final on 5th March 2017 played on this IIT, Delhi ground only ended in draw at the score of 259 each.
SXAA Annual Reunion 2017 - A Report Nostalgia descended at St. Xavier's, Patna campus with the Annual Reunion organized by St. Xavier's Alumni Association, Patna today afternoon. The Jt. Secretary of the Association, Mr. Neel Mani Rangesh (1993 batch) welcomed the guests, dignitaries and more than 500 alumnus assembled from all part of the globe. The president of the association Dr. Sandeep Sen (1974 batch) called the annual reunion meeting to order. He informed that the St. Xavier's Alumni Association is one of the oldest school alumni associations in the country and also noted that it is a forum which brings the alumni together to relive and cherish their past and enter into activities that help them to continue their lives with the values that they received at the school. He assured that the alumni association shall interact more closely with the management of the school and its students. The school and its students, he said, have constantly striven to live up to the school motto "FOR GOD AND COUNTRY"". The Secretary of the association Mr. Abhay Kanodia (1981 Batch) presented the Secretary's Report and described in details about the activities carried out by the association in last one year. The association honoured three eminent personalities with Distinguished Xaverian Award - 1) Shri Sandeep Das (1985 batch), one of the leading Tabla virtuosos in the world today and only the 9th Indian to win the GRAMMY Award at the 59th Grammy Awards 2017 for Best World Music Album - 'Sing me Home', 2) Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna (1974 Batch) UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, SSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, Indian Army, and 3) Shri Dilip Sinha (1970 Batch), the Former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations and the Former Chairman, Manipur Public Service Commission. The association honoured 1) Shri Abhash Jha (1981 Batch), the Sector Manager for Transport, Urban and Disaster Risk Management for East Asia and the Pacific for the World Bank and 2) Shri Yashovardhan Sinha (1974 Batch), One of the leading Entrepreneur of Bihar and the Promoter, Chairman and Managing Director of Aditya Vision Limited which has 28 showrooms across 17 districts of Bihar and a turnover of over 500 crores with the special award 'Significant Achievement Award'. Apart from these, Dr Ashutosh Kumar (1985 Batch) was awarded the 'Fr. Wroblewski Memorial Alumni Service Award' for his selfless service to the Alumni Association lasting more than a decade. Alumni Association also felicitated with a special memento to Mrs. Gracy Martin (teacher), Mrs. Sunita Sinha (teacher) and Shri Stephen Jerome (Staff) on completing 25 years of service at St. Xavier's, Patna, for their exemplary & devoted service rendered to the school with great distinction. Sunny Jacob (Secretary, JEASA and National Advisor, JAAI) and the Chief Guest Hon'ble Justice Navin Sinha (1972 Batch), Supreme Court of India enlightened the audience with their insightful addresses. Vice President Mohit Ahluwalia (1979 batch) proposed the vote of thanks and also informed that the reunion was also an occasion for the diamond jubilee celebration of the 1957 batch, golden jubilee celebration of the 1967 batch and silver jubilee celebration of the 1992 batch. Jt. Secretary, Dr Ashutosh & Om Prakash expressed that it was an evening that included cultural music along with socials and dinner for the alumni and their families. It was a time when the alumni returned to their alma mater to relive their golden days in the school and the evening was planned in such a manner that every member of the Alumni Association found his own space to recapture the freedom that he enjoyed while he was there as a child.
